FCA Calculations
NOTE ON FCA CALCULATIONS FOR JULY 2000 - 2001.
---------------------------------------------
The Commission has directed at (Sr. no.24, Page 10) of its order dated 5.5.2000 in the matter of "Determination of tariff of various categories of consumers of MSEB", that

a.     FCA charge will be made applicable to all categories of consumers.
b.     MSEB to submit to the commission data related to FCA for every quarter starting July 2000.
C.     FCA shall not be charged by MSEB without prior approval of the commission who will prescribe the methodology for charging FCA.

In pursuance of the above, the basic fuel cost merged in the tariff applicable for May 2000 onwards is indicated in Statement-I. The basics for estimation of FCA rate for July 2000 to March 2001 considering the data adopted by the Commission for determination of the tariff to be made applicable by MSEB w.e.f. 1.5.2000 and the actual fuel cost incurred by MSEB in May & June 2000 is enclosed as Statement II.
The estimation is based on the following : -
FIXATION OF BASE FOR FUEL COST ADJUSTMENT BASED ON REVISED TARIFF.
-------------------------------------------------------------
1 The generation of MSEB's thermal and gas based stations in April 2000 is deducted from the total generation considered by the commission while determining the tariff for 2000- 2001. This gives us the generation for the balance period of the year viz. May 2000 - March 2001.
2 Proportionate fuel cost and heat value for the generation so estimated for may 2000 to March 2001 is worked out on the basis of cost and heat rate approved by the Commission.
3 Similarly the purchase from central Sector stations and DPC and the fuel / variable cost for the same is arrived at on prorata basis by deducting the actual purchase for April 2000 from the approved figures for the year 2000-2001.
(Statements III)
ESTIMATION OF FCA RATE FOR JULY 1999 - MARCH 2001
-------------------------------------------------------------
1 The FCA liable sale for July 2000 - March 2001 is arrived at by deducting the actual metered sale in April, May & June 2000 from the metered sale for the year 2000 - 2001 as considered for tariff revision.
