Some
field officers have sought advice of this office regarding
further action to be taken against the H.T. consumers
who do not take any steps to maintain the power factor
of their installations upto/above
the limit of 0.85 prescribed in our conditions of
supply even after the notices of disconnection of
supply for the same are served on them.
In
this connection it is stated that the supply may not
be disconnected if the consumer furnishes a copy of
the order placed
by him for supply of suitable apparatus for improvement
in his power factor within a period of two months
from the date of intimation to
him to improve the power factor. The consumer may
be allowed reasonable time to receive the apparatus
as per delivery period in the order letter and for
installation of same. But if any consumers do not
give any response at all, the supply will have to
be disconnected
after serving a notice for disconnection. Such an
extreme step would be necessary where the feeder and/or
transformer capacity is unduly loaded up by such consumers
due to poor power factor necessiating augumentation
of feeder/transformer capacities. Therefore, before
taking such drastic action, prior permission should
be obtained from your circle heads with a copy to
Chief Engineer (II). The supply should not be disconnected
for a default in the above matter in the case iof
distributing licensees, Water Works, defence factories
and other essential loads of Government either Central
or State.
