The Government of Maharashtra have
notified vide Notification No. ELD/1 9621Elec. dated
12th January 1963 that in the case of consumption
of electricity for premises and purposes stated in
the Notification, the Electricity Duty should be levied
at 3 nP. per unit with effect form the billing month
of January 1963.
A copy of Government Notification is enclosed herewith
for information.
It is observed from the above mentioned Notification
that the flour mills and other installations mentioned
therein are to be treated as servicing or processing
units' and the electricity duty to the Hour mills
etc, is to be charged as per part B of the schedule
of rates of electricity duty. Therefore wherever any
of such installations have been charged electricity
duty at the rates other than those mentioned in part
B of the schedule from October 1962 to December 1962
they should be charged at the rates prescribed in
palt B and the short fall, if any, should be recovered
by levying the same in the next bill and credited
to Government account. The rate of electricity duty
with effect form the billing month of January 1963
in the case of the flour mills will be 3 nP per unit
as already stated above.
