WHEREAS, it is expedient further to amend the Bombay Electricity Duty Act, 1958, for the purposes hereinafter ap pearing; It is hereby enacted in the fourteenth year of the Republic of India as follows:-
  

It shall come into force on such date as the State   Government may by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
  

In section 2 of the Bombay Electricity Duty Act, 1958 (hereinafter referred to as" the Principal Act") in clause (a), after the words "to whom energy is supplied" the words and figures by a bulk of licensee within the meaning of clause IX of the Schedule to the Indian Electricity Act, 1910, or" shall be inserted.
  

In section 3 of the Principal Act, in sub-section (2), in clause (a), for sub clause (I) the following shall be substituted, namely:-
  

by the Government of Maharashtra (save in respect of premises used for residential purposes).
  

by or in respect of any municipal corporation, municipality, municipal committee, Town Committee, notified area committee, Cantonment Board, Zilla Parishad or village panchayat constituted under any law for the time being in force in the state, for the purpose of, or in respect of, public street lighting, public water works and system of public sewers or drains;
  

by any licensee for purposes directly connected with the construction; maintenance or operation of any generating, transmitting and distributing system of the licensee".
  

In section 4 of the Principal Act, in sub-section(3), for the words end figure "under section 7, and "the words and figure "under section 8, deduct such amount of electricity duty from the amount, if any deposited by the consumer with the licensee or such person or"shall be substituted.
