Recently a case was referred to the Head Office for
approval, to refund or waive the delayed payment charges
charged at the consumer. In this case it was observed
that the consumer having lost the original bill, had
applied for another copy of the same but the concerned
field officer inordinately delayed for a few months
to give the duplicate copy with the result that the
consumer could not pay the concemced bill in time
and the delayed payment charges were charged for some
months till the request of the consumer was complied
with.
In view of the inordinate delay on the part of our
field office, the Board was compiled to waive the
delayed payment charges.
The field officers are therefore reequested to see
that such requests for duplicate copy of energy bills
are complied with promptly and without any delay.
It is specifically brought to the notice of the field
officers that if any delayed payment charges are charged
to the consumers due to delay on the part of the field
officers they shall be held personally responsible
for such delays and suitable action will be taken
against them for recovery of the amount.
