Sub  : Electricity Duty-Interest on account of delayed
payment of...

      A copy of Government Circular No. ELD-1062/148836-Elec. Dated: 13th Fefuary, 1964 is enclosed herewith for information and guidance.

      All the field officers are requested to ensure that the amount of electricity duty is paid within the due dates every month. It should also be ensured that the cheques are sent to the treasuries and banks sufficiently in advance, taking into account the time taken in clearance of cheques and that on no account should there be reasons for Government to levy penal interest on the delayed payment of Electricity Duty. If any interest is levied by Government it would be recovered from the peersons responsible for the delay in payment of electricity duty.

      Further, if any interest is demanded by Governement, the amount of interest should be paid to Governement immediately and action of recovering the same from the persons concerned. Making an appeal to Government may be taken up later on.
