Sub: Sanction of Motive Power Small Scale Industries

Sir,

With reference to your letter, No.P-Con-33/11131, dated the 26th February 1964, on the above subject, I am directed to state that Small Scale Industry includes all industrial units with a capital investment of not more than Rs. 5 Lakhs. For the prupses of this definition, capital investment means investment over fixed assets viz. land, building, plant an machinery. Our manufacturing industry using sugarcane crushers is classified as a small scale industry. However, a sugarcane juice proucing unitm when sugarcane juice is served to customers as a beverage is not classified as an industry for the pruposes of registration as small scale industry by the State Directorate of Industries.

Poha Mills, last grinding mill, printing press, Saw Mill and Ice Factory are all classified as small scale units provided the value of the fixed assets of any unit does not exceed the unit of Rs. 5 Lakhs.

Yours faithfully,
Sd/-
