The provisions of the section 3 shall come into force with effect from the 1 st January'l 966 Necessary notification has been published In the Maharashtra Government Gazette Extra-ordinary of 30th December 1965. The meters of the consumers are not necessararily read either on the first or on the last date of the calendar months. Hence for the purpose of calculation of electricity duty at the revised rates In respect of the period commencing on the 1 st January 1966. the following procedure should be followed by the licensees, the Maharashtra State Electricity Board and by the persons, not being licnesee, who generate energy for their own use or for supply to others: For the purpose of calculation of duty payable in respect of the period commencing on the 1 st January' 1966 and adding on the day on which the motor is read for the first time thereafter, the units of energy consumed during the said period should, as far as possible, be determined on the basis of the average daily consumption of energy recorded during the month immediately preceding the day on which the meter is read as aforesaid. Necessary amendment to the Bombay Electricity Duty Rules: 1962 has been published in the Maharashtra Government Gazette Extra- ordinary on 30th December 1965. The licensees etc. are requested in the meantime to follow the above procedure for enforcement of the revised rates of electricity duty with effect from 1 st January, 1966.
