No. PR-3(HP)/34359
Maharashtra State Electricity Board, Mercantile Bank Bldg.,
Fort,
Bombay:
Date: 18th Aug. 1980.

Departmental Cirucular (Com) No.354.

Sub  :
Revised agricultural tariff to agricultural consumers and Rural Water Supply Schemes - Option of billing.

The concessional agricultural tariff was made applicable to all L.T. & H.T. agricultural consumers and to Rural Drinking Water Supply Schemes with effect from 1.9.1978 and 1.4.1979 respectively. These consumers were also allowed to exercise the option of billing based on either "metered supply" or "Horse Power of the pump" with a specific condition that the option once exercised shall be binding on the consumer for a period of 3 years.

However, in view of the decisions of billing even stand-by motor connected load, intimated vide circular No. 351 dt. 12.6.80, many consumers are applying for change of option even before the expiry of the initial period of 3 years. This issue was therefore brought to the notice of the Board and the Board vide B.R.No. 649 dt. 19.7.80 has approved as follows:

"If the agricultural consumers and 'Rural Drinking Water Supply Schemes who have stand by motors and who have already opted for H.P. Tariff, now desire to change their option before expiry of the initial period of 3 years !n view of the Board's decision of billing stand-by motor loads, they may be permitted to do so from the commencement of the ensuing billing years after installation of the meters. The decision of the board may be brought to the notice of the concerned consumers".

All the concerned field officers are requested to take note of the Board's above decision for necessary action. All the Zonal Chief Engineers are also requested to bring the board's above decision to the notice of the concerned consumers by issuing suitable public notice in local newspapers.
