The Irrigation Department of the State Govt. has brought to the notice vide letter No. BKS-1 583/2890 S(P) Dt. 4th June 1983 that service connections to Lift Irrigation Schemes on Pravara river in between Ozar to Bhandardara are given by M.S.E.B. without verifying the N.O.C. from the Irrigation Department for lifting water from the river.

It is also stated that, giving of service connection to any lift irrigation scheme on the notif ied rivers without N. 0. C. of fhe Irrigation Department, for lifting of water from the river by the U.S. is illegal, in view of provision under section 97(l) of the Irrigation Act & such offence if cognizable offence.

Therefore, it is requested that the concerned officers before giving connection to new L.I.S. should ensure that the Irrigation Department has issued the required N.O.C. Also a review of all the existing life irrigation schemes on the notified rivers may be taken & list of lift irrigation Schemes which have been connected without N.O.C. from Irrigation Department is sent to this office at the earliest to decide further course of action.
