Sub  : 

Levy of delayed payment charges and interest on
 balance amount less than rupee one.

Delayed payment charges and interest are levied to discourage the consumers to make late/part payment of their bills, However, the consumers may find it difficult to make exact payment as per bill due to shortage of coins.

In order to overcome these difficulties, it is clarified that wherever, payment is effected in cash the bill collecting employees/agents/Banks can accept the energy bills in multiples of rupees on the lower side of the amount payable by the consumer and no delayed payment charges and Interest should be levied if the balance amount is less than one rupee.

After receipt of such payments from consumers, the balance of a Rupee (not paid by the consumer) may be carried forward as arrears to next bill.

The above instructions will be effective from the date of issue of this
