Sub : 
Affixing stamp on Agreements with consumers.


............As per practice so far a stamp of Rs. 5/- is affixed on the agreements executed by the consumers with the Board for supply of power, etc. Similarly undertakings are taken from the consumers on a stamp paper of Rs. 5/-. This Is done as per the Bombay Stamp Act, 1958. This Act has been amended by Bombay Stamp (Amendments) Act 1985 (Maharashtra Act No. XXVII of 1985). The amendment is effective from 10.12.85 as per the Gazette Notification dt. 5.12.85. As per the Amended Act, the stamp duty is raised from Rs. 5 to Rs. 10/-. Therefore, all agreements/undertakLngs to be entered into by the consumers will have to bear a stamp of Rs. 10/- in future. In respect of the agreements and undertakings already executed with the consurners; after 10/12/85, you are requested to take up the matter with the consumers and arrange for affixing appropriate stamp of Rs. 10/-.
