  Departmental Circular (Com) No. 406

18.

It was observed that even though a consumer is disconnected, bills for minimum charges are continued to be issued to the consumer even beyond the initial agreemental period. This has resulted in creating fictitious arrears. It has therefore been decided that as soon as temporary disconnection is effected, one month's notice for permanent disconnection clearly bringing out therein the financial implication involved to the consumers in getting reconnection thereafter in case he fails to make the payment within one month period should be issued to the consumer. Such notices should be issued in Marathi as well as in English, and should be sent by R.P.A.D. to the consumer and if the consumer does not turn up in time to make the payments and get his supply reconnected, Board's equipments such as meter, etc. should be removed. However, the service line should not be removed. Once the supply is permanently disconnected no bills for minimum charges should be issued to the consumers. All such cases where the action to disconnect the supply permanently is not taken in the past, should be reviewed by the Supdt. Engineer concerned and they should take necessary action for withdrawing these factitions arrears.
