............The electrification of isolated villages and tribal areas situated far from the Board's existing lines through the use of solar energy via the solar P.V. Panel batteries sets has been started by the Board, on an experimental basis, as a way of developing electrical energy using non-conventional source of energy. About 100 nos. of villages have so far been electrified in the State using the above system. The Board has now considered the issue of the tariff to be charged for the street ligbts thus provided and has resolved vide B.R. No. 779 dated 12.10.1987 that the street lighting service rendered through the use of solar P.V. Panels may be supplied free of charge in the villages declared as electrified by utilising only the solar energy.
