Levy of delayed payment charges and interest on
balance amount less than rupee one.

Departmental Circular (Commercial) No. 393 issued vide letter PG- 15/A/cs/41728 dated 9.9.85

............Instructions have been issued vide the above Departmental Circular that when a payment is made in cash, no DPC and interest charges should be levied in case of short payments of less than rupee one due to shortage of coins. Govt. of Maharashtra has issued Circularclated 1.4.1987 specifying that all monetary transactions involving Govt. should be accounted for and paid/received inrounded rupee. These directives are effectivefrom 1.4.1987. Therefore the rounding of the energy bills in consultation with the Govt. of Maharashtra is under process. Meanwhile all Officers are requested to note that in respect of payment made either by cash or by cheque no D. P.C and interest should be levied when the amount of arrears not paid is less than rupee one. However, the above amount is to be carried forward as arrears to the next bill.
