DEPARTMENTAL CIRCULAR (COMMERCIAL) NO. 683.

Subject:          Notice for disconnection of supply.

As per the provisions of Condition No.27 (c) of Board's Condition of Supply, if the consumer fails to pay any bill presented to him, within prescribed period of payment, the Board is at liberty to take action under Sub-Clause (1) of Section 24 of Indian Electricity Act, 1910 and cut off the supply after giving such consumer not less than 7 clear days notice in writing and without prejudice to its right to recover the amount of bill by suit. The Electricity Act, 2003 has come into force from 10.6.2003.  As per the provisions of Clause-56 of Electricity Act, 2003, disconnection can be made only after giving not less than 15 clear days notice in writing.

            All the field officers are, therefore, requested to note the provisions of Clause- 56 of Electricity Act, 2003 and follow the same strictly.
