20. Meters :


b)

Installation of Meter :

The Board shall supply a meter, it required by the consumer, to measure the energy supplied to him for the purpose of billing. at a monthly rental as laid down in the schedule of miscellaneous charges. Having agreed to take the Board's meter on rental, the consumer shall not be entitled to have his own meter during the period of contract. It the consumer elects to have his own meter to start with and subsequently requests the Board to provide the meter, the same shall be provided by the Board with the least possible delay but the entire cost of labour and materials in effecting the change plus 15% to cover overhead charges shall be payable by the consumer and thereafter the consumer shall be liable to pay the standard rental charges for the meter every month till the expiry of the contract. Meters will oriclinarily be installed at the point of entry to the building.

c) Reading of Meter:
 
i)

Reading of meters will be taken by the employees of the Board once in each month,or at such other intervals or times, it shall think expedient and such meter readers shall have access to the consumer's premises at all reasonable time for the purpose of such reading, However in Rural and Urban areas where the spot billing system is not introduced, reading of each meter would be entered by such reader in the Meter Card to be attached to such meter which shall be open to the inspection of the consumer.

ii)

When a consumer leaves his installation connected to the mains of the Board but locks up the meter or otherwise makes it inaccessible, for the reading by the staff of the Board for the first month of such inaccessibility, the consumer shall be charged on the basis of average consumption during the preceding six months or such shorter period for which the consumption figures are actually available. However, this would be subject to adjustment later on as per condition No. 20 (C) (iv).
