Payment
of bills :
|

The
time limit for the payment of the bill is prescribed
as follows
H. T. Consumers:
Within 15 days of the date of the bill.
L. T. Consumers : Within 20 days of the date of
issue of the bill in respect of monthly and bimonthly
billed consumers and 30 days from the date of issue
of the bill in respect of the quarterly and half
yearly billed consumers.

"Bills
shall be paid by the consumers at the Board's Office
within the period as above or as provided in the
agreement of supply failing which the consumer shall
be liable to pay the delayed payment charges as
per the prescribed rates". If the payment of the
bill is made by the cheque or draft, the same should
be sent or posted suff iciently in advance so as
to reach the local off ice of the Board before the
last date of payment. If the cheque or draft is
posted at least 3 clear days before the last date
of payment, the proof of which shall be available
in the form of certificate of posting or registration
of post, it shall be considered to have been posted
sufficiently in advance, and the consumer shall
not be liable for late receipt if any, in the local
off ice of the Board due to postal delays. N.B.
: For purposes of computation of time limit for
payment of bills. "The day of presentation of bills"
or the date of the bill" or "the date of issue of
bills" etc. as the case may be, will not be excluded".
Any dispute or complaint with regard to the bills
shall be made in writing to the local office of
the Board and the amount of such bills shall be
paid, under protest if necessary within the prescribed
period of payment. The amounts of the bills paid
under protest will be regarded as advances to the
credit of the consumer's account until such time
as the bills in dispute have been finally settled.

If
the consumer fails to pay any bill presented to
him within the prescribed period of payment, the
Board shall be at liberty to take action under subsection
(1) of section 24 of the Indian Electricity Act,
1910, and cut off the supply after giving such consumers
not less than 7 days clear notice in writing without
prejudice to its right to recover the amount of
the bill by suit. Where however any difference or
dispute has been reffered under the Act, to an Electrical
Inspector before notice as aforesaid has been given
by the Board, the Board shall not be at liberty
to cut off the supply for failure to pay the bill
except where the Board has made the request to the
consumer that the amount in dispute should be deposited
with the Electrical Inspector and the consumer has
failed to comply with such request.
*** Without
prejudice to the right of the Board to disconnect
the power supply of the consumers, the consumer
shall pay the prescribed interest charges on the
gross amount of the arrears (inclusive of Delayed
Payment Charges) which shall be automatically chargeable
15 days after the due date of the Bill.
** The prescribed rate of interest shall be
12% per annum in respect of Agricultural consumers
(Low Tension as well as High Tension) and for street
light supply of Grampanchayat.
